Across the Fediverse - Kerrick the Painter
"Basing is my favorite part of the model as it lets you set the scene your models are in (and it’s a little more forgiving if you make a mistake lol).

"

Tell us a little about yourself, who are you, what do you do, and what interests you about mini painting?

I work IT by day, but have always enjoyed gaming, both on the tabletop and in the digital sense, though lately I have edged more towards the tabletop space lately.

Are you primarily a wargame player or a mini painter?

"I find the painting portion of the hobby to be very relaxing and a good teacher in patience. I wound up on Mastodon to connect with fellow hobbyists on more platforms.

While I do enjoy the game and hobby equally scheduling with the day job typically makes the hobby time the more prominent. "

In your own words, what level of painter are you?

"Primarily I would say my work is roughly at Tabletop++ standard currently, but part of my enjoyment is practicing and learning new things."

How long have you been in the mini painting hobby?

So far I have been in the hobby since about the year 2000.

Current Projects

What mini(s)/ model(s) are you using for your current project?

"Currently I am working on Morvenn Vahl for the Sisters of Battle, as well as a Space Marines (Ultramarines) commission of course using Games Workshop’s models, though I do enjoy checking out other brands and have started 3d printing models as well for a few projects."

What do you like most about them?

"Basing is my favorite part of the model as it lets you set the scene your models are in (and it’s a little more forgiving if you make a mistake lol).

"

What are the most important paints that you are using for your current project?

The Shifters as my primary “work horse” paints. With that being said I am always willing to try other brands.

"Currently I have been primarily using AK Interactive’s 3rd Generation paints; as well as Vallejo’s Model Colors, Game Colors, Xpress Colors, and The Shifters as my primary “work horse” paints. With that being said I am always willing to try other brands."

What are you learning while you paint the model?

"Picking out details and finding new ways to improve my work.
"

Have any cool events coming up that you would like to share?

"I will be joining Roll Call Studios as a guest for another season of Vampire the Masquerade. Also I will be slowly building up my YouTube channel with tips for other amateur hobbyists on how they can get the most enjoyment out of the hobby without holding themselves to the standards of professional painters. "
