Tell us a little about yourself, who are you, what do you do, and what interests you about mini painting?

"I'm Doug, a roleplayer and union organizer. There is some crossover about storytelling and a group of people overcoming obstacles to win a better life. I wrote a RPG about union organizing, 'Beat the Boss.' "

How did you end up on the Fediverse/Mastodon/Pixelfed?

"I've left other social media when I find that it brings more anger and despair than joy. I left FB when that happened and I left Twitter when that happened. If I'm going to associate with any group I'll do it as long as I have a net positive."

How long have you been in the mini painting hobby?

"I started painting minis in high school took a 20 year break and then came back about 9 years ago when I started running a Dragonlance campaign using the old DL campaign."

In your own words, what level of painter are you?

"Experienced hobbyist"

What mini(s)/ model(s) are you using for your current project?

I use minis agnosticly. I mix 28-30mm minis at the table. I mix GW, Northstar, Reaper and Bad Squidoo minis all depending on which sculpt is best.

"I look for some dynamism in pose."

What are the most important paints that you are using for your current project?

"I have the same approach to paint that I do for models. I use Ceramcoat and Vallejo washes.

Many colors have great coverage (with space for thinning) and can be used as glazes, too. And you can get 2 oz for $1.50USD

Some colors have very bad binder and you can't tell until you get them home and on the palette. There is a limited variety of colors (no British uniform.

Always looking at how volumes can be exaggerated so that they still read as the size they are in dimly lit rooms that I play in. I'd like to start dabbling with different color undercoats."
